Newcastle Christmas Market 2026

Newcastle's Christmas Market is back for 2026, filling the streets around Grey's Monument with festive stalls from Thursday 19 November to Wednesday 23 December. Entry is free, and with more than 70 traders, most of them from the region, it is one of the best things to do in Newcastle in the run-up to Christmas.

Where is the Newcastle Christmas Market?

Stalls run along Grey Street and Grainger Street, around the Monument and on Nelson Street, in the heart of Newcastle city centre. Monument Metro station is right next to the market, and Haymarket and Central Station are a short walk away.

What's on at the 2026 market

• Over 70 traders selling gifts, crafts, decorations, street food and mulled drinks, mostly run by local and regional businesses.
• The Christmas Village at Old Eldon Square, with Marshmallow Land, Festive Flix and a Ferris wheel.
• Santa Stories and live shows on the Rockin' Reindeer stage.
• The North Pole Terrace with heated igloos, and the Moosenwirt alpine bar.
• Extended opening and festive events at the historic Grainger Market.

Opening times

The market usually opens 10am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sundays. Times can change on some days, so check the official NewcastleGateshead listing before you travel.

Tips for visiting

• Weekday mornings are the quietest time to browse. Saturday afternoons and evenings are the busiest.
• Bring a reusable bag, because there are plenty of gifts to carry.
• Pair your visit with the Fenwick Christmas window on Northumberland Street, a short walk from the Monument.
